“Hill”, a web comic …

In the spirit of Showing Your Work (thanks, Austin), welcome to my graphic novel experiment, Hill. I’ll post these as often as I can. I have no idea where this is going, and I’m working on the process to quickly get a page from paper to ‘finished artwork, so join me as I figure it out …

A few self-critique notes here: Arrival at the bottom is already given by the motion of the elevator, and the bright open door at the bottom of the panel. The silhouette of Hopper is nice, but I could gain a bit more narrative span by placing him at the bench, working on something, and still show a nice rabbit-ear dark shape against a light background. That way, we get one more narrative element out of the sequence. This shows how the elements, setting, and characters can all advance the narrative at different paces - they need not all be part of the same narrative thread.
